The question is, as this post from atl suggests, how could the dean continue to recruit students to smu while at the same time lecturing about how terrible the legal job market is and would continue to be? Or, is the blame more on the prospective students, who continue to apply to law schools in droves, despite all the cautionary warnings from others?

wtf dean attanasio?
even though i received my masters of law from smu and acknowledge that i received an excellent education there, i have always thought that smu (and its students) think far more of themselves than the rest of the legal world does. however, given that the school is the only law school in dallas (and the only top ranked school in DFW), and the fact that a large majority of its graduates remain in dallas to practice, top law firms routinely recruited from the school through 2008 for their bloated summer associate programs. in 2008, that all stopped and law firms began to focus on top tier (14) schools only. sadly, this left many good students at smu out in the cold.
